To change screen resolution in BlueStacks Android emulator you need to edit two registry items:

1. Run regedit.exe

2. Set new resolution (in decimal):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\0\Height

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\0\Width

Kill all BlueStacks processes.

Restart BlueStacks

What do you mean by – ‘Kill all BlueStacks processes’.

How do I do that? And What after that?

    Please explain…

    Thanks

Open process explorer ( ctrl + alt + esc) and kill all processes that starts from Bluestack. Then you could run shortcut “start Bluestacks”

    For me it was:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\GuestHeight
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\WindowsHeight

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\GuestWidth
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\WindowsWidth

In case I want to add a decimal 900 in the first key, GuestHeight = 900. How is the sytax for reg add?? I tried over two hours without succeeding…??!!

    reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer\ v/ “GuestWidth” /t REG_DWORD /d “900” has a syntax error.

    Any ideas??

      Here is my solution:

      set var1= “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer”
      reg ADD %var1% /v GuestHeight /t REG_DWORD /d “800” /f

No idea why this is working but the other not…

        Correction:

        set var1= “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\Guests\Android\FrameBuffer”
        reg ADD %var1% /v GuestHeight /t REG_DWORD /d “800” /f

Best resolution are android default sets.
    Its set at 1280×720.
Ihad an older pc with on board graphics. So i used 800 x 480 or mdpi. Works for me.
