Error during installing MySQL server 5.5 on Ubuntu 14.04

I got following error when try to install mysql-server-5.5 on ubuntu 14.04:

[ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: unknown variable 'log_slow_verbosity=query_plan'

After that I got

To fix that:

    Im getting the same error, installing sql on ubuntu, hangs when I get the above error.
    I comment line from /etc/mysql/my.cnf file and installation completes
    try doing a reinstll and it tells me mysql installed
    try mysql –version and i get the following:

    The program ‘mysql’ can be found in the following packages:
    * mysql-client-core-5.5
    * mariadb-client-core-5.5
    * mysql-client-core-5.6
    * percona-xtradb-cluster-client-5.5
    Try: sudo apt-get install

    Ready to pull my hair out at this stage ha
    Any help would be appreciated

    Better Fix, I uninstalled mysql and installed mariaDB instead..no issues, exactly what it says on the tin
